Adam Phillips is a litigation associate in O’Melveny’s Century City office. He represents a diverse set of clients across all stages of their complex legal disputes with significant experience in entertainment, media, and water issues.
Prior to joining O’Melveny, Adam worked for years in the entertainment industry. He regularly uses that background to serve clients—ranging from film and television studios to radio stations and musicians—who have relied on him in their high stakes copyright, defamation, contingent compensation, and contract disputes.
As a member of the firm’s Chambers-ranked water group, Adam has helped prominent members of California’s farming community protect their water rights in comprehensive groundwater adjudications.
Adam also maintains an active and broad pro bono practice, including work on immigration, criminal justice, and reproductive rights matters. Among them, Adam was part of the O’Melveny merits briefing team that successfully persuaded the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn unanimous circuit precedent and cement a new constitutional jury trial right in Erlinger v. United States.
Adam graduated with honors from Harvard Law School, where he co-founded the law school’s Film, Literature, and Media (FiLM) Society and was an editor for the Harvard Journal of Law & Technology. He also previously served as a legal intern in the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office.
