Alex Trabolsi is a litigator in O’Melveny’s San Francisco office and a member of the firm’s Health Care practice group wherein he represents commercial clients at various stages of litigation and in government and internal investigations.

His practice includes matters involving the False Claims Act, government oversight, antitrust, products liability, and other regulatory and enforcement issues. He also dedicates significant time to pro bono work on criminal defense, immigration, and eviction matters. As an active leader in the firm, he serves on the Associate & Counsel Advisory Committee and is a co-chair of the San Francisco Parenting Employee Network and has served as a co-chair of the San Francisco Summer Committee.

In his practice, Alex works tirelessly to achieve positive outcomes for his clients tailored to their specific needs. He has a diverse array of experience and has led fact-development teams, drafted and argued motions in state and federal court, taken and defended depositions, coordinated expert teams, negotiated discovery disputes and settlements with opposing counsel, and participated in trial work.

Before joining O’Melveny, Alex clerked in federal court in the Eastern District of Louisiana and attended UC–Berkeley School of Law. Prior to becoming an attorney, Alex taught second grade in Brooklyn, New York while obtaining his Masters in the Art of Teaching. He uses all this experience to analyze and explain complex legal concepts in digestible and efficient terms for both clients and courts.

  • Defended a national managed care organization in False Claims Act litigation against the US Department of Justice and qui tam relators, rebutting allegations related to risk-adjustment practices in Medicare Advantage program.
  • Secured dismissal of three False Claims Act qui tams alleging violations of Medicare Advantage regulations for a national managed care organization in the US District Court for the Middle District of Florida.
  • Advised a national managed care organization in its acquisition of another health insurer and negotiated with the Inspector General of the Office of Health and Human Services to terminate a Corporate Integrity Agreement for the acquired company.
  • Won acquittal for a senior executive of a multinational poultry supplier charged with price-fixing and bid-rigging in a criminal trial in the US District Court for the District of Colorado.
  • Secured a favorable settlement in a hazardous-waste enforcement action brought against a retail client in California state court.
  • Negotiated a favorable settlement for a migrant family forcibly separated at the border by the federal government, resulting in significant monetary damages for clients.
  • Brokered a favorable settlement in a San Francisco tenant eviction case, allowing clients to remain in their home.
  • Achieved a commutation in a death penalty sentence for a client in state court habeas proceedings in Dallas.
