Alex Trabolsi is a litigator in O’Melveny’s San Francisco office and a member of the firm’s Health Care practice group. Alex represents healthcare and other commercial clients in government and internal investigations and at various stages of litigation. His practice includes matters involving the False Claims Act, government oversight, antitrust, products liability, and other regulatory and enforcement issues. He also dedicates significant time to pro bono work on criminal defense, eviction, and immigration matters. As an active leader in the firm, he serves on the Associate & Counsel Advisory Committee and is a co-chair of the Parenting Employee Network.
Prior to joining O’Melveny, Alex was a second-grade teacher in Brooklyn, New York, and a judicial clerk in federal court in the Eastern District of New Orleans. He uses his experience as a teacher and clerk to analyze and convey complex legal concepts in digestible and efficient terms for clients and courts.
- Successfully argued for dismissal of three False Claims Act qui tams for a national managed care organization in the US District Court for the Middle District of Florida.
- Successfully advised a national managed care organization in the acquisition of another health insurer and negotiated with the Office of Health and Human Services, Office of Inspector General to terminate a Corporate Integrity Agreement for the acquired company.
- Defends a national managed care organization in False Claims Act litigation with the US Department of Justice and qui tam relators into compliance with Medicare Advantage regulations, including allegations related to unsupported diagnoses resulting in inaccurate risk-adjustment submissions.
- Attained two mistrials and an acquittal for a former senior executive of a multinational poultry supplier against price-fixing and bid-rigging allegations in a criminal trial in the US District Court for the District of Colorado.
- Secured favorable settlement terms in a California hazardous waste enforcement action against a retail client in California state court, which only required that the organization maintain its existing compliance program and pay a modest penalty.
- Negotiated favorable settlement terms in a San Francisco, CA tenant eviction case, allowing clients to remain in their home.
- Achieved commuted death penalty sentence for a client in state court habeas proceedings in Dallas, TX.
