Clint Harris is an intellectual property litigator in O’Melveny’s Newport office particularly focused on patent and trade secret law. Clint has represented clients involving a wide variety of technologies, from consumer electronics to space-based radio communications to emerging AI technology. His experience includes appeals before the Federal Circuit involving IPR final written decisions before the PTAB; district court patent litigation matters involving invalidity and infringement arguments concerning location-based mobile phone and Bluetooth technology; and plaintiff-side litigation and arbitration involving misappropriation of trade secrets.
Clint also maintains an active pro bono practice focusing on helping veterans with a range of legal issues, including expungement of criminal records and characterization of discharge upgrade.
Prior to law school, Clint served as an Infantry Office with the US Marine Corps during the Global War on Terror. As part of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom, he deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan and was awarded several citations, including the Combat Action Ribbon and the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with the Combat Distinguishing Device.
Patent Litigation
- Represented international consumer electronics company in defending and successfully settling a dispute over patents relating to location-based mobile phone notifications.
- Defended an international streaming service provider against accusations of patent infringement concerning video streaming and graphical user interface technology.
Trade Secret Litigation
- Successfully resolved a district court litigation involving a former employee’s mishandling of confidential information involving a direct competitor in the space radio industry.
- Represented an AI start up in arbitration concerning misappropriation of the company’s crown jewels of technology.
Pro Bono
- Assisted several clients, including veterans, in expunging multiple minor criminal offenses, allowing the individuals to be eligible for federal benefits.
- Represented a client in her appeal to the California Court of Appeals for the Fourth Appellate District concerning the denial of domestic violence restraining order protecting her and her child from an abusive partner.
