Javed Yunus is a skilled litigator in O’Melveny’s New York Office with a focus on securities and financial-services related litigation, commercial disputes and breach-of-contract actions, and sensitive investigations. Javed has advised and represented individuals, banks, insurance companies, and other financial services firms in high-stakes litigation and investigations.
Javed draws on his experience working as a judicial clerk for the Hon. Vincent L. Briccetti in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York. Javed is also an active litigator on behalf of pro bono clients with a focus on Section 1983 civil rights lawsuits, election and voting-rights litigation, and immigration-related litigation.

- Litigated and favorably settled a putative class action alleging a Section 10(b) claim against a regional financial institution, along with follow-on shareholder derivative action against the company.

- Obtained dismissal of putative class action alleging Section 11 claims against underwriting syndicate arising out of a public offering by a multinational technology company.
- Represented multinational healthcare company in successful defense of a third-party subpoena arising out of a putative class action alleging Section 10(b) claims.
- Obtained favorable resolution of shareholder litigation arising out of allegations that the client pharmaceutical company misrepresented the intellectual property underlying its product, including a putative securities class action, a shareholder derivative action, shareholder demands, and books-and-records demands.
- Litigated and favorably resolved multiple actions alleging that various financial entities breached representations and warranties in the issuance and securitization of Residential Mortgage-Backed Securities.
- Successfully advised mortgage servicing institution in high-stakes breach-of-contract dispute with a former provider of mortgaging-servicing technology, avoiding the disabling of critical technology that would have crippled the company, without litigation.
- Successfully advised purchaser of meat distribution business in dispute over ownership of federal antitrust claims worth millions of dollars by advancing novel breach-of-contract and breach-of-fiduciary duty claims against the seller of the business to drive a resolution without litigation.
- Advised individual shareholder in successful books-and-record demand on company.
