Mia N. Gonzalez is a member of the White Collar Defense and Corporate Investigations practice group. She represents individuals and companies in complex, high-stakes corporate internal investigations, and criminal and regulatory matters, including investigations by the U.S. Department of Justice, the New York Attorney General, the Securities and Exchange Commission, and various self-regulatory organizations. In addition, she represents clients in in a variety of antitrust matters and has an active pro bono practice.

White Collar
- Represents a global financial institution in responding to a variety of investigations conducted by the US government, the New York Attorney General’s Office, and industry regulators related to aspects of the client’s broker-dealer business.
- Represents a major global automotive company in an investigation by the US Department of Justice.
- Represented a major global automotive company in an investigation by the US Department of Justice regarding alleged false statements to the company’s primary regulator. The government closed its three-year investigation with no adverse findings against the company and no penalty.
- Represented a global technology company in connection with a wide-scale bribery investigation by the US Department of Justice across a broad range of jurisdictions. The government closed its multi-year investigation with no adverse findings against the company and no penalty.
- Represented a global technology company in connection with a fraud investigation conducted by the US Department of Justice.
- Represented a public company’s Audit Committee and advised the Board of Directors in an internal investigation concerning potential insider trading.
- Represented a global financial institution in connection with a multi-year FCPA investigation conducted by the SEC and Federal Reserve involving the firm’s hiring practices abroad.
Antitrust
- Represents US Airways, now part of American Airlines Group Inc., in its antitrust litigation against Sabre, a global distribution services company. Mia was part of the O’Melveny trial teams that won a jury verdict for US Airways in December 2016 (following an eight-week trial) and a jury verdict for US Airways in May 2022 (following a three-week trial). - Represents an airline in seeking DOJ merger clearance.
- Represents Google in a series of antitrust cases pending in the Northern District of California. Plaintiffs – including dozens of state attorneys general – allege that certain aspects of Google Play and Google Play Billing are anticompetitive. In re: Google Play Store Antitrust Litigation, No. 3:21-md-02981-JD; Epic Games, Inc. v. Google LLC, No. 3:20-cv-05671-JD; In re Google Play Consumer Antitrust Litigation, No. 3:20-cv-05761-JD; In re Google Play Developer Antitrust Litigation, No. 3:20-cv-05792-JD; State of Utah et al. v. - Represented US Airways in its merger with American Airlines.
- Represented a leading personal computer and software designer and manufacturer in an antitrust lawsuit alleging price fixing brought by the DOJ, state attorneys general, and private plaintiffs. The case involved a three-week bench trial.
Pro Bono
Mia has represented a wide range of clients in both criminal and civil matters in state and federal court, before the US Citizenship and Immigration Services, and before the United Nations High Commission on Human Rights. Some of Mia’s matters include:
- Working with local New York-based legal services provider to develop potential legal strategies to improve the conditions of confinement for persons housed in New York City jails in light of Covid-19.
- Working with a New York-based legal services provider on strategies for challenging DNA collection and retention for use in local law enforcement investigations.
- Working with local New York-based legal services provider to advise Black Lives Matter activists arrested in connection with BLM protests regarding filing Civilian Complaint Review Board complaints against the New York Police Department.
- Filing two amicus briefs in the Second Circuit and Ninth Circuit on behalf of clients denied emergency abortion care because of medical providers’ religious beliefs or restrictions.
In addition to the work described above, Mia is an engaged and active leader at O’Melveny, where she serves as the New York office's Hiring Partner. She is also a committed mentor to junior attorneys, and is an active member of New York office’s Women’s Affinity Group and Attorneys of Color Groups, two of O'Melveny's employee networks. These organizations are intended to facilitate relationships critical to professional development, including networking, mentoring, and community outreach. Mia is also involved in other O’Melveny initiatives designed to recruit, retain, and promote diverse attorneys.
