Simon Hedlin is a litigation counsel in the firm’s Washington, DC office. He is a versatile attorney who has represented clients ranging from individuals and smaller business organizations to government entities and Fortune 500 companies in complex commercial litigation, internal investigations, government investigations, and regulatory matters. Simon’s experience includes providing regulatory counseling, guiding clients in pre-litigation, drafting and responding to complaints, coordinating discovery, preparing witnesses for depositions and trial, and briefing appeals.
Drawing on his past work in journalism, academia, and government, Simon is an experienced writer who has drafted dozens of motions and briefs at every stage of litigation in state and federal court as well as in domestic and international arbitrations. He has also worked on numerous appeals in state and federal court, including several cert petitions and a merits brief in the United States Supreme Court.
Simon is also deeply committed to his pro bono practice, including protecting reproductive rights, increasing access to disability benefits, and defending veterans’ rights.
Prior to joining O’Melveny, Simon worked as a journalist at The Economist, a researcher at an anti-trafficking nonprofit, and an advisor at the Swedish Prime Minister’s Office.
