Vanessa Turner advises clients on complex antitrust and competition matters across Europe and globally, with a particular focus on digital markets, abuse of dominance investigations, merger, and cartel enforcement cases. A partner in O’Melveny’s Antitrust & Competition Practice and based in Brussels, Vanessa brings more than 30 years of experience guiding companies through high-stakes investigations and regulatory scrutiny.
Vanessa counsels clients on the application of the EU’s Digital Markets Act and other competition tools, helping them seize opportunities while managing compliance risks. She also advises on multi-jurisdictional merger control, representing clients before the European Commission, UK, and German authorities.
Senior executives in the technology, financial services, and consumer sectors rely on Vanessa for strategic advice on navigating Europe’s evolving regulatory landscape. Her practice is informed by a unique blend of public, private, and in-house experience. She previously served as a senior advisor at BEUC (the European Consumer Organization), a member of the Cabinet of the European Commission for Competition, and Special Advisor for EU Affairs to the US Federal Trade Commission.
Vanessa’s in-house experience as General Counsel, Executive Vice President and Company Secretary at Visa Europe, along with her prior roles, enhances her ability to deliver practical, business-focused solutions to clients operating in highly regulated environments.
Vanessa is an editor of the ABA Antitrust Magazine and serves as an ICN Non-Governmental Advisor to the European Commission. A frequent and sought-after speaker, Vanessa has spoken at more than 120 conferences over the past 5 years. She is qualified in both the United Kingdom and Germany. Vanessa is fluent in English, German, and French, and is also well-versed in Dutch. She holds degrees from the University of Surrey, the College of Law (UK), the Université Libre de Bruxelles, and the University of Sussex.
