In this bylined article for VentureBeat by O’Melveny senior counsel Laurel Loomis Rimon, she discusses the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s plans to develop a unified regulatory sandbox as a solution to the challenges fintech companies face in complying with a patchwork of existing laws.
Rimon observes that the notion of regulatory sandbox is for now “aspirational.”
“To be more than that, the CFPB will have to do something no other federal regulator thus far has been willing or able to do: expand the range of accommodations and protections it is willing to offer participants in the sandbox,” she writes.
