O’Melveny Partner Darin Snyder Named 2023 “Intellectual Property Litigator of the Year” by Benchmark Litigation

SAN FRANCISCO—March 17, 2023—Benchmark Litigation has named O’Melveny partner Darin Snyder the 2023 “Intellectual Property Litigator of the Year.”
The award honors the “country’s most distinguished litigators and their firms for their exemplary work over the past twelve months.”
Benchmark recognized Snyder, who is a senior leader of O’Melveny’s Intellectual Property and Technology Practice Group and serves as the firm’s head of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, for his work representing clients such as Google, Samsung Electronics, Samsung Display, Waze, and others in a number of high-stakes litigation matters.
At trial for tech leader Google, Snyder led a team that won a jury verdict in a patent case accusing Google’s Nest Hub products of infringing digital picture frame technology. He and an O’Melveny team defended Samsung Electronics and Samsung Display Co. in the U.S. International Trade Commission, ensuring that they are able to import active matrix OLED displays.
Snyder and the O’Melveny team also established new law, convincing the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals to issue a writ of mandamus ordering the transfer of two patent cases against Samsung and LG from the Western District of Texas to the Northern District of California. And, just two weeks before a trial in the Eastern District of Texas, Darin led the effort that secured an order from the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals transferring three related cases against Samsung, Waze, and Google out of the district.
