Variety Names Twelve O’Melveny Partners to its “2021 Legal Impact Report”

CENTURY CITY—April 9, 2021—For the second consecutive year, Variety has named twelve O’Melveny partners to its prestigious Legal Impact Report. The annual special report spotlights top attorneys in the entertainment business, as identified by Variety’s writers and editors.

Variety noted the 2021 Legal Impact Report specifically honors the attorneys who worked through the COVID-19 pandemic to make an “impact in entertainment, helping showbiz artists in their endeavors.”

The publication featured nine members of O’Melveny’s Entertainment Litigation Team and three members of O’Melveny’s Entertainment & Media Transactions Team.

Led by Trial Practice Chair Daniel Petrocelli and Entertainment, Sports, and Media Group Co-Chair Molly Lens, the Litigation Team included partners Drew Breuder, Leah Godesky, Matt Kline, Amy Lucas, David Marroso, Anton Metlitsky, and Cassandra Seto. Variety recognized the Team’s work on several headline-making matters, including securing a key win for Twentieth Century Fox in executive poaching litigation against Netflix. Variety also noted the Team’s representation of video game company Activision Blizzard in a separate poaching dispute against Netflix, as well as the Team’s work for Global Music Rights in an antitrust battle with a terrestrial radio-industry coalition.

Led by Entertainment, Sports & Media Co-Chair Amy Siegel, the Transactions Team included partners Bruce Tobey and Silvia Vannini. Variety recognized the Team’s work on several industry-shaping deals, including representing ViacomCBS in its US$375 million investment in MIRAMAX and advising NBCUniversal and Warner Bros. on force majeure and return-to-work strategies amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
