Daily Journal: Top Forty Under 40 2022

O’Melveny counsel Heather Welles has been recognized by the Daily Journal as one of the forty top lawyers under the age of 40 in California. The Daily Journal lauded Welles for being part of a small group of lawyers in the country with a deep expertise in water law. “Water law combines old English doctrines developed as common law with layers of complex contemporary regulations,” Welles said. The publication highlighted her role on the O’Melveny team that is representing landowners in a “first-of-its-kind multi-stage adjudication” regarding California’s Sustainable Groundwater Management Act. “We’re gearing up for trial in September,” Welles said. “I’m doing the briefing and expert work. The case involves more than 200 parties, and we’re figuring out the witness list.”
