Law360: 5 Chicken Execs Acquitted In Denver Antitrust Trial

Five poultry executives have been acquitted of price fixing charges following the US Department of Justice’s third attempt to convict them. Among the executives, who were accused of a scheme to rig bids for chicken sold to restaurants and grocery stores, includes former Pilgrim’s Pride CEO Jayson Penn. “Justice was done today. We are grateful to this jury, which sat through almost a month of trial and took only a day to reject the government's charges,” said Michael Tubach, Penn’s lawyer. “This case should never have been brought.” Penn is represented by Tubach, Anna Pletcher, and Brian Quinn of O’Melveny & Myers LLP.
