Law360: Meet The Attys Repping Travis Scott In Astroworld Litigation

December 1, 2021

A trio of O’Melveny lawyers is defending Travis Scott in hundreds of lawsuits accusing him of inciting a crowd surge at his November 5 Astrowolrd Festival that left 10 dead and hundreds injured. More than 250 lawsuits have been filed in Harris County District Court with many of them seeking more than US$1 million in damages. O’Melveny Trial Practice leader and Vice Chair, Daniel Petrocelli, is leading Scott’s legal team that includes Product Liability and Mass Torts Practice leaders Sabrina Strong and Steve Brody. Petrocelli, who has represented clients including Twentieth Century Fox, and artists Kesha and Ariana Grande, is a 40-year entertainment industry veteran who was named a Law360 2020 “Entertainment MVP.” Strong is no stranger to the world of music litigation as she successfully defeated a lawsuit in 2013 that was “brought by the family of Michael Jackson against AEG Live accusing the concert promoter of ignoring warning signs that could have saved Jackson's life.” Brody is a former US Department of Justice litigator who was named a Law360 2021 “Product Liability MVP” in September. Both Strong and Brody were part of the O’Melveny team that recently helped overturn a US$465 million opioid verdict for Johnson & Johnson in Oklahoma.
