Los Angeles Times: Disney Sues Former Marvel Artists Over Iron Man and Spider-Man RightsSeptember 24, 2021
The Walt Disney Company has filed lawsuits against a number of its former writers and illustrators who are attempting to claim rights to Marvel characters they worked on in the past, including Iron Man, Spider-Man, and Daredevil. Marvel, which is owned by Disney, “sued several ex-Marvel comics artists in order to invalidate copyright termination notices,” the publication wrote. O’Melveny partner Dan Petrocelli is representing Marvel and said in a statement that “since these were works made for hire and thus owned by Marvel, we filed these lawsuits to confirm that the termination notices are invalid and of no legal effect.”
