Reuters: Bang! Pow! Lawyer Foes Square Off Again in Marvel Copyright Fight

A team of O’Melveny lawyers, led by the firm’s trial practice leader and vice chair, Daniel Petrocelli, has filed lawsuits on behalf of Marvel against comic book artists who helped create characters such as Iron Man, Spider-Man, and Thor. The opposing counsel, Marc Toberoff, and Petrocelli have a history of facing off together over various copyright disputes. “Petrocelli is a prominent leader at 700-lawyer O’Melveny, one of the country’s biggest law firms,” Reuters reported, whereas “Toberoff said he only has two lawyers working for him.” Petrocelli is also representing Disney in a case against Toberoff that was filed earlier this year concerning the action film, “Predator.”
