Am Law 100 firms experienced a 0.3% decrease in all corporate work through the first half of 2022, especially in the M&A sector where they saw a 2.1% decrease in demand, according to Thomson Reuters. However, according to third-quarter league tables from Refinitiv based on deal value, O’Melveny is one of five firms in the top 25 of M&A league tables that increased its deal value from last year. In 2022, O’Melveny has done more the US$90 billion in deals, which is an 82% increase from last year’s US$49 billion. Eric Zabinski, chair of O’Melveny’s M&A group, said that the firm’s performance is a reflection of its focus on “middle market in technology, media, and energy deals; cross-border investments; mid-market private equity; and venture-backed emerging clients.”
