The American Lawyer: Litigator of the Week Runners-Up and Shout Outs

O’Melveny was featured in The American Lawyer’s June 30 edition of its “Litigator of the Week: Runners-Up and Shout Outs” column. The publication highlighted an O’Melveny team’s defense of singer/songwriter Kesha in her longtime legal dipsute with music producer Lukasz Gottwald. Gottwald filed defamation claims against Kesha after she accused him of verbally and sexually assaulting her. The parties reached a settlement after a New York Court of Appeals ruling deemed Gottwald a “limited-purpose public figure,” requiring him to prove that Kesha’s accusations were made with “actual malice.” The O’Melveny team was led by Daniel Petrocelli, Leah Godesky, and Anton Metlitsky.
