The New York Times: Disney Sues DeSantis Over Control of Its Florida Resort

The Walt Disney Company has filed a lawsuit against Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and other state officials over claims that they conducted a “relentless campaign to weaponize government power against Disney in retaliation for expressing a political viewpoint.” The lawsuit, filed Wednesday morning, stems from an ongoing dispute between the company and Governor DeSantis, who appointed an oversight board for the district in which Disney World is located to oversee government services at the park. The suit was filed in the United States District Court in Tallahassee by prominent Los Angeles litigator Daniel Petrocelli and also alleges that the campaign “threatens Disney’s business operations, jeopardizes its economic future in the region and violates its constitutional rights.”
