Law360 Honors O’Melveny with Three “Practice Group of the Year” Awards

NEW YORK—January 14, 2019—Law360 has honored O’Melveny with 2018 “Practice Group of the Year” awards in the categories of Competition, Sports, and Transportation. This marks the third consecutive year the firm’s Transportation group has been selected for this honor.
The awards recognize “the law firms behind the litigation wins and major deals that resonated throughout the legal industry in the past year.” O’Melveny’s practice groups were selected from among nearly 800 submissions.
The awards spotlight some of the most significant work the firm handled in 2018, including a win for AT&T and Time Warner in the Department of Justice’s challenge to the companies’ landmark, US$85.4 billion merger, a dispute that has been called the “antitrust trial of the century.” Law360 also considered the firm’s work representing investor David Tepper in his acquisition of the NFL’s Carolina Panthers—the largest transaction for an NFL team to date. Additionally, editors noted the firm’s work representing clients selected to redevelop separate passenger terminal projects at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport, the state’s largest commercial airport, which served 59 million passengers in 2017.
