Managing IP Lauds O’Melveny with Multiple Awards

NEW YORK—April 11, 2022—O’Melveny was recognized for its excellence in multiple categories at Managing IP’s 2022 Americas Awards, an exclusive gathering celebrating the past year’s most remarkable intellectual property achievements by law firms, companies, and individuals.
O’Melveny took top honors in the category of “Patent Contentious (West),” and partner Darin Snyder was named “Litigator of the Year” in the state of California. Additionally, the firm’s work In re Samsung Electronics (Federal Circuit) was recognized among the year’s “Impact Cases.”

In the “Patent Contentious (West)” category, O’Melveny was lauded for success in several patent litigation cases for clients such as Google, Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics, Hulu, and others. The firm defended Samsung in high-stakes patent cases involving its mobile communications products. O’Melveny also won a Western District of Texas patent infringement trial for Google relating to digital picture frame technology, and protected Hulu’s core technology for on-demand live streaming.
Snyder was honored as California’s “Litigator of the Year” for his work in high-stakes trials. He secured a defense jury verdict for Google in a case seeking US$20 million and secured dismissal of a three-patent case against Acacia entity Super Interconnect Technologies. He also obtained victories before the Federal Circuit and District Court for Google, Samsung, LG, and Hulu on motions to transfer cases from the Western District of Texas.
Managing IP further recognized O’Melveny’s success in the “Impact Case” In re Samsung Electronics (Federal Circuit), where the firm secured precedent-setting victories on motions to transfer cases out of the Western District of Texas by persuading the Federal Circuit to issue multiple writs of mandamus.
