O’Melveny Expands Dallas White Collar Team by Welcoming Former Federal Prosecutor Sid Mody

July 18, 2022

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DALLAS—July 18, 2022—O’Melveny announced today that former federal prosecutor Sid Mody has joined the firm’s Dallas office as a partner in its White Collar Defense & Corporate Investigations Practice Group, as well as the firm’s Fintech, National Security, and Data Security & Privacy Groups.

Mody comes to O’Melveny from the National Security, Cybercrime, and Money-Laundering Division of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Texas, where he prosecuted cryptocurrency, cyberfraud, ransomware, and hacking cases, and was the office’s Digital Currency Crimes Coordinator and the National Security Cyber Specialist.

A first-chair trial lawyer, Mody has tried more than 60 jury trials. He began his career as an Assistant District Attorney in Tarrant County, Texas, where he was a key member of the White Collar Crimes Unit, prosecuting complex fraud cases, including intellectual property and computer crimes matters.

With the addition of Mody, O’Melveny now has a total of nearly 60 lawyers—including 21 partners—in its Dallas, Austin, and Houston offices, all hired since the firm opened in Texas just about one year ago. In Dallas, Mody will work alongside veteran White Collar partner Danny Ashby, who joined the firm in February.

With his government experience and strong background in computer forensics, Mody bolsters O’Melveny’s leading White Collar Defense & Corporate Investigations Practice, particularly in the areas of data privacy and security, crypto and blockchain, and national security. He will advise clients across the globe on the sophisticated threats to their businesses, and help them assess and design compliance programs, conduct reviews, and respond to government investigations and enforcement actions.

“We are delighted to welcome Sid to O’Melveny. He brings significant investigative and trial firepower to our global White Collar Group, and his deep experience in cybercrime and national security will be an immediate asset to our clients,” said O’Melveny Chair Bradley J. Butwin.

“I’m honored to join O’Melveny and eager to work with this global firm’s outstanding teams in cybersecurity, fintech, securities, and national security,” Mody said. “I’m also excited to be part of O’Melveny’s continued expansion in Texas. The firm has already built a very formidable presence in the Lone Star State, and I’m thrilled to join O’Melveny’s impressive roster of Dallas lawyers.”

Mody earned his J.D. and MBA from Texas Tech University in 2011, and his B.A. from Texas A&M University.
