Partner Daniel Petrocelli Named Among “Top Lawyers of the Decade” by Daily Journal

CENTURY CITY—January 20, 2021—O’Melveny partner Daniel M. Petrocelli has been named among the “Top Lawyers of the Decade” by the Daily Journal.
Petrocelli, chair of O’Melveny’s Trial Practice Committee, was profiled in a special feature of the publication.
The Daily Journal referred to Petrocelli as the “victor in the Antitrust Trial of the Century,” noting his 2017 role as lead counsel for AT&T and Time Warner in their defeat of the US Department of Justice’s attempt to block their historic US$100-billion merger.
Petrocelli was also lauded for securing a permanent injunction for Twentieth Century Fox in 2019, stopping Netflix’s unlawful interference with Fox’s employment contracts.
The Daily Journal called Petrocelli “a key player in entertainment and sports law.” In addition to his representation of AT&T and WarnerMedia and Twentieth Century Fox, the Daily Journal noted Petrocelli’s work for NBCUniversal Media LLC, The Walt Disney Co., Global Music Rights LLC, singer and songwriter Kesha and boxer Manny Pacquiao.
“It’s been an exciting decade for cases,” Petrocelli told the Daily Journal. “But I’m not a sole practitioner. My colleagues are as responsible for all of this as I am.”

This is the latest in a string of recognitions that Petrocelli has received. In mid-January, he was honored by The American Lawyer as “Litigator of the Year.” In January 2020, he helped lead the O’Melveny Litigation Department to a “runner-up” ranking in The American Lawyer’s national Litigation Department of the Year competition. Petrocelli was previously selected as a “Litigator of the Year” finalist in 2017 and 2018. He has also consistently earned the highest accolades from the nation’s top legal and entertainment publications.
