Gabe Castillo Laughton is a litigation associate in O’Melveny’s Newport Beach office. His practice focuses on a wide range of industries, including banking, retail and consumer products, technology, and financial services. Gabe also advises clients on matters involving complex technologies, cryptography, and digital asset review.

Additionally, Gabe maintains an active pro bono practice, focusing primarily on issues relating to civil rights and immigration. He also currently serves as a member of the firm’s Associate & Counsel Advisory Committee and Latino/a Employee Network.

  • Representing the Puerto Rico Fiscal Agency and Financial Advisory Authority (“AAFAF”) and Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority (“PREPA”) in Puerto Rico’s historic Title III restructuring proceedings, adversary proceedings, and contested matters in the District Court of Puerto Rico
  • Defending global household and consumer products company in a consumer class action involving false advertising claims
  • Representing large financial institution in Consumer Financial Protection Bureau investigation relating to allegedly deceptive banking practices
  • Obtained favorable settlement for large transportation company on the eve of trial in a wrongful death suit
  • Obtained favorable settlement in municipal action brought by non-profit provider alleging violations of the Religious Land Use and Institutionalized Persons Act and the First Amendment through discriminatory zoning practices
  • Successfully appealed Social Security Administration’s denial of Social Security Benefits to the United States District Court for the Central District of California for pro-bono client
