O’Melveny Worldwide

2023 ABA Antitrust Spring Meeting

March 29, 2023

Six O’Melveny partners will make an instrumental contribution to the 2023 ABA Antitrust Spring Meeting in Washington, DC as panelists, moderators, and a mock trial lawyer. The event provides a valuable opportunity to draw on both domestic and international perspectives on competition, consumer protection, and data privacy law from talented/esteemed faculty and professional representatives. O’Melveny partners Jarryd Anderson, Katrina Robson, Michael Tubach, Ian Simmons, Anna Pletcher, and Greta Lichtenbaum will explore topics including digital and criminal antitrust, litigating monopolization, national security, and criminal enforcement.

Over 3,400 delegates from more than 65 countries are expected to participate in the week known as “Antitrust Week” making it the largest gathering of competition, consumer protection, and data privacy professionals globally, with lawyers, academics, economists, enforcers, journalists, and students from around the world.

Jarryd Anderson will participate in a session discussing the bank merger review framework. Katrina Robson will join a panel discussing the rise of global legislation on tech giants in the digital marketplace. Michael Tubach will serve as the session chair for a panel discussion on the legal and practical issues involved in introducing economic evidence in a criminal antitrust trial. O’Melveny Co-Chair of the Firm’s Antitrust and Competition Practice, Ian Simmons will moderate a panel on litigating monopolization cases. Greta Lichtenbaum will speak on the importance of both antitrust review and national security review of foreign investment for competition M&A lawyers. Anna Pletcher will join a team of distinguished trial lawyers in a mock trial to tackle some of the challenging fact issues raised in recent cases, so we can see how a jury responds to them and the economics on which they turn.
