The Hollywood Reporter: ‘Predator’ Screenwriters Suing Disney to Recapture Rights

April 15, 2021

A copyright battle is underway between Disney’s 20th Century studios and the screenwriters for the original Predators film starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The screenwriters, Jim and John Thomas, are attempting to terminate Disney’s rights to the lucrative franchise after a 35-year transfer period comes to an end later this year.

20th Century is represented by O'Melveny trial practice chair Daniel Petrocelli, partner Molly Lens, and counsel Kendall Turner. Petrocelli has a track record of success in copyright defenses, noted the publication, having previously represented Warner Bros. in litigation over the rights to comic book hero Superman.
