O’Melveny Partners Chopra, Pletcher, and Siegel Named 2022 “Top Women Lawyers” by the Daily Journal

LOS ANGELES—May 19, 2022—The Daily Journal has named O’Melveny partners Apalla Chopra, Anna Pletcher, and Amy Siegel to its 2022 list of “Top Women Lawyers,” which, according to the publication, recognizes the best women lawyers in the state of California.
Chopra serves as co-chair of O’Melveny’s Litigation Department, co-chair of the firm’s Labor & Employment Group, and chair of the firm’s Colleges and Universities Industry Group. The Daily Journal recognized Chopra for her role in an internal investigation into misconduct claims made against the women’s basketball coaching staff at Syracuse University. “These cases have impacts on the reputations of all involved, and it’s really high-stakes, sensitive and difficult work,” Chopra said.
The Daily Journal lauded Pletcher for representing Ford Motor Company of Canada in an antitrust class action lawsuit, which was initially set for trial but settled in January 2022. Prior to joining O’Melveny’s Antitrust & Competition Group, Pletcher served as an assistant chief of the U.S. Department of Justice’s antitrust division and special assistant U.S. attorney. “There are not many women doing criminal antitrust trial work nationally, and I am proud to be part of this group,” Pletcher said.
Siegel serves as co-head of O’Melveny’s Entertainment, Sports & Media Group. The Daily Journal described her as “a go-to for both established and emerging brands looking for a skilled negotiator.” The publication highlighted Siegel’s role in several headline-making transactions, including advising South Korean mass media company CJ ENM in its US$850 million acquisition of Endeavor Content. “I love that I am able to…help my clients develop and protect their businesses as the industry continues to change,” Siegel said.
