O’Melveny Partners Petrocelli, Godesky, Marroso, and Dugan Named to Billboard’s 2023 List of “Top Music Lawyers”

LOS ANGELES—April 6, 2023—O’Melveny partner and Trial Practice Chair Daniel Petrocelli, and partners Leah Godesky, David Marroso, and Terrence Dugan have been named to Billboard’s 2023 list of “Top Music Lawyers.” Billboard described their 2023 honorees as an “essential resource for the music industry’s rising artists, songwriters and superstars alike.”
In the O’Melveny team’s award profile, Billboard highlighted the firm’s representation of Global Music Rights in its multi-year antitrust dispute with the Radio Music Licensing Committee, a coalition of 10,000 radio stations, which resulted in a settlement over licensing fees paid to Global Music Rights’ artists, including Drake, Pharrell Williams, Lizzo, and Nicki Minaj.
Billboard also noted copyright infringement lawsuits that the O’Melveny team settled against Red Wolf Broadcasting and One Putt Broadcasting on behalf of Global Music Rights.
“Government investigations and private litigation surrounding ticketing practices are expected to raise important questions about competition, market power, and related issues,” said Marroso, referring to what he views as the music industry’s most important concern in 2023.
