O’Melveny Practices, Lawyers Highly Ranked in The Legal 500 US 2020

NEW YORK—June 24, 2020—O’Melveny’s leading practices and lawyers have been highly ranked by the 2020 edition of The Legal 500: United States, a guide to the US legal market.

This year’s guide ranks the firm in 40 practice areas and names nine lawyers to its “Hall of Fame.” The guide also recognizes 15 O’Melveny lawyers as “Leading,” “Next Generation,” and “Rising Stars.”

Nine O’Melveny lawyers have been named to “The Legal 500 Hall of Fame,” which honors lawyers across the industry "widely regarded as being at the very top of the profession," including partners Brian Boyle, Apalla Chopra, Walter Dellinger, Richard Goetz, Luc Moritz, Daniel Petrocelli, John Rapisardi, and Tancred Schiavoni. Additionally, The Legal 500 named of counsel Brian Anderson to its 2020 “Hall of Fame” list.

The Legal 500 defines “Leading” lawyers as those viewed as “stand out partners.” Its designation of “Next Generation” lawyers recognizes those viewed as “up-and-coming” associates and counsel. “Rising Stars” are associate-level lawyers who “have made major contributions to practices.”

In its special feature on “Leading Trial Lawyers,” The Legal 500 once again highlighted Daniel Petrocelli, chair of O’Melveny’s Trial Practice. “Consistently involved in the most significant and impactful media and entertainment disputes in the market,” Petrocelli, the publication noted, has secured such successes as his win for AT&T and Time Warner in the DOJ's attempt to block their $85.4-billion merger. The guide also cited his current work for “plaintiff Twentieth-Century Fox in a claim seeking to prevent Netflix from recruiting Fox executives”.
