Global Legal Chronicle: Abu Dhabi Consortium’s Stake Acquisition in Starzplay Arabia

O’Melveny advised Starz in connection with the sale of a 57% majority stake in Starzplay Arabia to an Abu Dhabi-based consortium led by E-Vision, an affiliate of e& (formerly known as Etisalat Group), and ADQ. The transaction was announced on March 17 and remains subject to regulatory approvals and certain administrative procedures. Starz and its parent company Lionsgate will maintain commercial agreements for content licensing to the venture. The O’Melveny team advising Starz was led by Entertainment, Sports & Media corporate partners Bruce Tobey and Silvia Vannini, and counsel Cailey Cavanaugh, Zach Greenberg, and Evie Whiting, with support from partners Ryan Coombs, Bob Fisher, Sevda Staykova, counsel David Ribner, and associate Luisa Lizoain.
