O’Melveny Advises Bagdasarian Productions in Sale of 25% Stake of Iconic “Alvin and the Chipmunks” Franchise to Big Shot Pictures

CENTURY CITY—July 15, 2026—O’Melveny advised Bagdasarian Productions in its sale of a 25% stake of the 68-year-old “Alvin and the Chipmunks” franchise to Big Shot Pictures, the family-entertainment company led by former Paramount Pictures co-chief executive Brian Robbins.
The transaction was announced on July 14, with Bagdasarian Productions and Big Shot Pictures planning to roll out new, digital-first, short-form content later this year, and a new theatrical film in late 2028.
Bagdasarian Productions is owned by Ross Bagdasarian Jr. and his wife, Janice Karman. The iconic chipmunk trio was created in 1958 by Bagdasarian’s father, Ross Bagdasarian Sr., who went by the stage name David Seville.
